Why I love NEEDTOBREATHE!

Who is NEEDTOBREATHE?

Needtobreathe (stylized as NEEDTOBREATHE) is an American rock band from Seneca, South Carolina. The band has charted on mainstream rock/pop charts, but have had their greatest number of singles on Christian music charts. The band is composed of Bear Rinehart (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Bo Rinehart (backing vocals, guitar), Seth Bolt (backing vocals, bass). They have released four studio albums: Daylight (2006), The Heat (2007), The Outsiders (2009), and The Reckoning (2011).

Now, this is nothing overly exciting to read about and that's probably because this is simply just information that I pulled from Wikipedia's definition of who NEEDTOBREATH is, found here. You could also get a feel for who NEEDTOBREATHE is by checking out their website by clicking here. That's all fine and dandy, but that is not why this website was created. This website was created to give you just a glimpse of what I, Alesha Haub, think of this band known by the name of NEEDTOBREATHE. "Who am I," you may ask? Feel free to check out my twitter, (not that it will help you get to know me)but for now, let's talk music.

Who is NEEDTOBREATH to me??

The first NEEDTOBREATHE album I ever listened to was their third album release known as The Outsiders. I immediately fell in love with this band. Everything from their sound to their fun and at times incredibly powerful lyrics. The Outsiders truly finds NEEDTOBREATHE coming into their own, seamlessly blending ambient, arena-ready soundscapes with a decidedly Southern sensibility. Some of my favorites songs from that album are The Outsiders, What You've Done To Me, and Garden.

Something else I love about NEEDTOBREATHE is that they refused to adhere to any kind of sacred/secular label for their music, choosing instead to let the music speak for itself. They're not preaching, but they don't hide the worldview from which the music springs.

Obvious spiritual aspects are present in the lyrics, and the music itself connects with the soul at times, but this is simply solid music that reflects the artists who produced it. It will connect with believers and cynics alike, taking each of them on a beautiful musical journey. THIS is why I love them. I could also sit here and go on and on about them forever, including how amazing their newest album The Reckoning is, but I'd rather you just listen to them and discover them yourself.
