Rock On . . . Disc jockey Ben Stone, working for KORB-FM (93 Rock), created a controversy in the summer of 2000. He informed his audience that anyone who purchased a permanent tattoo of "93 Rock" for his/her forehead would receive $30,000 per year for five years. (KORB-FM is located in Davenport, Iowa.) David Winkleman heard the offer and passed the information on to his stepson, Richard Goddard. They later had 93 Rock tattoos placed on their foreheads. The radio station fired Stone and refused to pay any money to Winkleman or Goddard. According to a lawsuit filed against Stone and the station, Winkleman and Goddard were unable to find employment after they received their tattoos. Winkleman later dropped his lawsuit. On April 23, 2003, a Scott County judge dismissed
Goddard's lawsuit against the radio station for failure by Goddard to appear at
a deposition, failure to obtain a new attorney after the original attorney
withdrew, failure to respond to motions, etc. (A picture follows.)
