25 May 2009: Hamilton Falls on Memorial Day

A fine day--blue skies, almost cloudless, with a nice breeze, mid-60s at the Falls.
I knew about the "36 miles of trouble," the failed West River rail line that was built in the 1870s, the railbed of which makes up the first two miles of the hike to Hamilton Falls. Today I learned, I think for the first time, that the railroad was known as a tri-daily because it proceeded from South Londonderry to Brattleboro in the morning and tried to make it back by the evening.
