5 August: Couch Day on Monadnock
According to these guys who hauled up an air pump as well as an uninflated plastic couch to the summit of Monadnock, today was Couch Day. I just managed to haul myself up the White Cross Trail, the first time I managed this particular trail to the summit. I find it a tough hike--a rocky path, areas that require handholds, and scary sections of open slab--even without furniture. Very variable weather, fog drifting over the mountain with some bright patches, so the views were only so-so.
Did I mention a rocky trail?
