Internship Program
Hatch Show Print is a 133-year-old letterpress print shop. Hatch prides itself on being a working museum with the motto "preservation through production." As a way of sharing the history of Hatch and the trade of letterpress, we offer an internship program. We're happy to offer this once-in-a-lifetime experience to working professionals and students alike.
As an intern at Hatch you will learn the art of letterpress in a fun and professional environment. You'll be doing hard work and getting dirty. Eventually you'll have the opportunity to interact with real clients on real jobs. This is a business with a demanding production schedule, so the ideal internship candidate will be ready to act professionally, work hard, follow directions, listen well and be ready to learn.
Housing, meals and transportation will be your responsibility. If you need help finding housing we have a few suggestions.
Application Information
We DON'T take E-mail applications. Please send a physical resume with a short letter of intent/cover letter explaining why you would like to intern at Hatch, what you expect to get out of the experience, and what you have to offer as a part of our team. We also would like to see samples of your work, but send in the paper products! No CD's, no jump drives, flash drives, thumb drives or any other kind of drives. If you don't have original prints, send us a photograph of your work. We have limited technology in here, so don't assume we're going to be visiting any websites or uploading and downloads or what have you.
If you want your work returned to you, send in a self-addressed AND stamped envelope.
We offer five different unpaid internship sessions. Please include which session you will be applying for and your availability. There is limited space in each session so we expect to receive applications at least two months before the session you are applying for.
