Killswitch Engage is the debut album released July 04, 2000 through Ferret Music. The album is the only release ever by Killswitch Engage to be released through Ferret, the band would later be signed to Roadrunner Records. The band's debut is considered to be one of the first ever successful albums in the metalcore genre, garnering a re-release five years after its original pressing. No songs in the album were released as singles.

Alive or Just Breathing is the second studio album released on May 21, 2002, through Roadrunner Records. The lyrics, which were all written by vocalist Jesse Leach, were aimed to bring a positive message through the music. Shortly after the release of Alive or Just Breathing, Leach left the band for personal and health issues. Killswitch Engage quickly recruited Howard Jones to replace Leach.

The End of Heartache is the third studio album released on May 11, 2004 through Roadrunner Records. It is the first album to feature lead vocalist Howard Jones from the mathcore band Blood Has Been Shed after Jesse Leach's departure from the band. The title track was nominated for Best Metal Performance for the 47th Annual Grammy Awards. The album was certified Gold by the RIAA on December 7, 2007.

Recorded in three months, As Daylight Dies was released on November 21, 2006 and peaked at number 32 on the Billboard 200 chart with 60,000 sales in its first week. "As Daylight Dies" proved to be one of their biggest albums yet.Thom Jurek of Allmusic called it "a Top Five metal candidate for 2006 for sure". Decibel Magazine contributor Nick Terry said "To call As Daylight Dies addictive would be an understatement.

Killswitch Engage entered the studio in October 2008 to start recording their second self titled album with Adam D and Brendan O'Brien co-producing the album. The album was released on June 30, 2009 debuting at No. 7 on the Billboard 200. In July and August, Killswitch Engage took part in Mayhem Festival with headliners Marilyn Manson, Slayer, Bullet for My Valentine and others.

The new album Disarm the Descent is slated for an April 2, 2013 release, with the first single "In Due Time" to be released February 5, 2013. On January 4, 2012, the band announced via the band's official website, along with their other official sources, that Howard Jones had left the band after his nine-year membership with them. The old lead singer Jesse Leach returns to the band for the new album.
